The Typical Project of Water Conservation for Stability Breeding Area of Tra and Basa Catfish in Mekong Delta will be carried in Khanh Hoa Commune (Chau Phu District), said Engineer Mai Van Cuong, Director of Rural Infrastructure Research and Development Center (Southern Institution of Irrigation and Science)

 

The investment program for the total area of about 500 ha includes reasonable system of water supply for the breeding area, biology-treatment system of waste and sewage, application of process of minimizing environment pollution by aquatic plants. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the Southern Institution of Irrigation and Science to invest in the establishment of testing model of 5 ha breeding area in Khanh Hoa Commune, to complete the process of pure breeding of tra and basa catfish (with water supply system, breeding water depository pond, sewage and mud treatment system…) which is friendly to the environment and helps to minimize river water pollution. The model then will be widely applied to other provinces in Mekong Delta.
